Cyprus` presence at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games is the most successful one in the history of the Games, President of the Cyprus Commonwealth Games Committee Ouranios Ioannides has told CNA.
So far, Cyprus ranks 14th out of 32 countries with 8 medals (2 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze). Its initial goal was to secure three to five medals.
“I think we may secure one more medal today, thus reaching nine medals maybe even ten. This is the greatest success we have ever had at the Commonwealth Games”, he said.
Ioannides congratulated the Cypriot athletes who won medals, saying that they went way beyond their personal performances.
The Cypriot team returns home on Tuesday.
