Communications and Works Minister Marios Demetrias has said that Cyprus will not solve its financial problems once Cyprus Airways is sold.
Furthermore he noted that both the selling price and the growth of Cyprus Airways should be taken into consideration in the framework of efforts which are under way to find an investor for the company.
Responding to questions by the press, the Minister also noted that Cyprus Airways does not face any problem at least in the short term.
Demetriades said it is not clear when the European Commission will announce its decision whether or not the government bailouts constitute state aid, recalling that we will soon have a new Commission.
“We will wait for the new Commissioner to take over and see how the process moves on,” he noted, adding that at the same time the process aiming at finding a strategic investor continues.
