Dare to change

Everyone has their own ways in life, the basics are the same for survival, but the method of survival can differ from one to another. Some of us like to have breakfast, some don’t. Some of us like a light lunch and a big dinner, whilst others like a big lunch and a light dinner. The main thing is, we do what suits our individual needs or requirements, that works with our own particular daily lifestyle needs. Most of us are creatures of habit and we feel comfortable and secure with regular stability of doing the same things over and over again. However, sometimes it is necessary to make some changes in life for improving health or just because it is ‘good for you’, as trying new things creates change. Occasionally we just have to ‘throw caution to the wind’ and take a leap to create a bigger change in life. A little change can create bigger change – that odd night out can lead to meeting someone that will transform your life, be it work or socially. Trying a new hobby can lead to great satisfaction and possibly a new job transformation. How many have turned hobbies into new businesses? Making a change often takes a plunge into the unknown, and ‘he who dares wins’. Of course, one has to be careful to a degree of sensibility; we wouldn’t jump out of a plane without a parachute. However, sitting at home waiting for everything to just happen by itself is highly unlikely to create change. One has to put ingredients in a bowl to create a mixture, in order to bake a cake. We have to plant seeds to see growth, but sometimes planting in the right area of soil and sunlight will make the difference to the rate and standard of growth. It is the same for making change and growth in virtually everything we do.
So let’s make some changes, let’s not get bored with doing the same old thing or get disappointed when things have been put on hold, or held up by circumstances beyond our control. Let’s look at it as a little hurdle or a route that has to take on a re-route plan with a diversion in order to get to the intended destination. That destination however may then be diverted again on route, and possibly even create a new destination whilst on route. The idea is to allow for change and don’t get stuck or give up just because of a few road blocks, whilst on that original route as it were. When we stumble along blocks and make that change, we can be pleasantly surprised with the new route and outcome.
Let’s not be afraid for the change, it is healthy and good for us to work on challenges, it makes our brain work, our body work, as it shows us what we need to do or want to do for a desired result.
The majority have been held up this year and we have had to adapt to the situation. There are those that can say it has set us back and of course there is no denying this delay, however many of our plans that have been postponed may now have to completely change in order to fit in with all our new lifestyle. The idea is not to grieve the losses but to say we “can’t change the past” and just now have to find a new way to work and re-create old ideas with some added new ideas for the present and or future.

Things to do to create change:

1. Start a new hobby to allow the mind to switch into a relaxed or different way of thinking. A free mind thinks better. Hobbies online, but interacting with others can work well for inspirational source.

2. Talk to other people regularly and listen, take on board other people’s ideas, be open and try to adapt to your original plan. Don’t shut out other people’s ideas – two heads can work better than one. People can inspire each other with new ways of thinking.

3. If you had some original business plans that couldn’t go ahead or work due to the pandemic, find a new way to do or start the business.

4. Create a vision board with all ideas and outcomes you want to achieve. Stick pictures from photos, magazines or leaflets. The constant reminders in front of you can help you push forward with creativity.

5. Have a ‘Free Plan Day’ when you have some time out, be open to changing your plans on some of those days. You may have planned to decorate or move some furniture round in a room, but if you are tired, you are more likely to make errors and damage things or even yourself. Instead relax and do something else constructive of lighter effort, then face and tackle that hard work project on another day when you are full of energy. You will work more efficiently, harder and faster. That way you have not wasted time, but just done something that works with your mind and body energy level.

6. Every now and again, do something crazy and just take yourself out of the ordinary, do something different from your ordinary routine. Live with a smile in all you do; we are alive and that is something to smile about surely. Live in the moment as this moment is your life. Appreciate everything with gratitude and believe that all can change in and instant, at any point in the future.
