Great progress has been made, and as further changes come into force, we are asking residents to keep up the good work, by staying a safe distance from others and using our local businesses, parks, and outdoor spaces sensibly and safely.
From tomorrow (Saturday 4 July) more businesses can re-open, including restaurants, cafes and pubs, as well as hairdressers and barbers, providing special measures are taken. Visit our business support pages for more information.
We have produced reopening guides for businesses and they have put in a range of measures to keep you, and their staff, safe.
Residents can do their part too to support businesses and ensure our high streets are safe for everyone. Updated guidance on staying safe outdoors and social distancing his been shared by the government – please ensure you follow the rules.
There are still restrictions on how many people you can meet up with. This includes:
• only gather indoors with members of up to two households (your support bubble counts as one household) – this includes when dining out or going to the pub
• only gather outdoors in a group of more than six people from different households or in larger groups if everyone is from up to two households only
• only visit businesses and venues in groups of up to two households (your support bubble counts as one household) or with a group of six people from different households if outdoors
• do not interact socially with anyone outside the group you are attending these places with, even if you see other people you know
• try to limit the number of people you see, especially over short periods of time, to keep you and them safe, and save lives
• when asked, provide your contact details to a business so that you can be contacted as needed by the NHS Test and Trace programme
There is also guidance on how to meet safely with people from outside your household.
