East Barnet reunion organisers appeal for ex-pupils

THE organisers of a reunion marking East Barnet School’s 75th anniversary are appealing for former pupils of all ages to help celebrate the milestone.

More than 1,000 alumni are expected to attend the reunion at the school in Chestnut Grove on Saturday June 23, and chairman of the East Barnet Grammarians Club Terry Boyce says the more the merrier.

Classrooms will be set out for individual years, allowing former students to make contact with contemporaries.

“We are expecting some people from the first year, as well as a few from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s,” said Mr Boyce.

The 74-year-old, who graduated in 1957, said he wanted to reach out to as many past pupils as possible, particularly those who might have lost touch with former school friends.

“The highlight of the day will be meeting up with friends you have not seen for more years than you care to remember,” he said.

“And in many cases renewing those friendships once again.”

The reunion will run from 2pm to 9pm.
