Fatal house fire cost the life of a 58-year-old Cypriot blind man.

Police were late last night investigating the circumstances of a fatal house fire in Trachoni which cost the life of a 58-year-old blind man.
The drama unfolded when the victim was left alone at the home of a friend he was visiting and was apparently unable to find his way out.
Bases police last night confirmed the victim was Panayiotis Ioannou.
Ioannou, who was born blind, was a regular visitor to the house.
Firemen who responded to the blaze were shocked to find Ioannou’s charred remains having been told that the owner had been seen leaving.
According to media sources, the man and his neighbour shared a meal before the owner left, asking the 58-year-old to lock up when he was ready to leave.
The same sources also said that the deceased, a married father of two, had been a smoker and the fatal blaze may have been caused by a discarded cigarette butt or ash.
