The Brit who vanished on a beach in Greece while her husband slept was reportedly urged not to swim by a coastguard.
A frantic search is currently underway for British tourist Michele Ann Joy Bourda, 59, who mysteriously vanished from a beach in Greece while her husband was snoozing over the weekend. Michele was last seen on Ofrynio beach in Kavala, prompting a massive search operation after authorities issued a silver alert.
With her life potentially in danger, search teams are scouring the sea for any sign of her. The Daily Star previously reported Michele was last spotted wearing a two-piece beaded swimsuit, yellow beach shoes, and red sunglasses. The news comes after a star footballer drowned in front of his horrified lover as he went for a river swim on a romantic holiday.
According to LBC , a summer sports instructor, who was on the beach at the time of Michele’s disappearance, reported they spoke to someone who matched her description.
The instructor informed the publication he saw her swimming in deep waters, urging her not to swim out any further. Michele’s belongings were left behind on her sun lounger after she vanished, sparking further concern.
The Brit had been “residing temporarily” in Serres, northern Greece, according to a coast guard official.
They said: “Michele is a British citizen who likely also had a home in the UK”. It is understood her husband is a Greek national.
