Former Vice President of Kenya Kalonzo appointed Honorary Consular of Cyprus in Kenya

Kenya’s Foreign Ministry has consented to the opening of a Cyprus Consul in the country and the subsequent appointment of former Kenyan Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka as its Honorary Consul-General.

The consent is in response to a notification by the Cyprus government earlier in the year on the appointment of the Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) party leader and Opposition Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) coprincipal.

Kalanzo’s Personal Assistant Dennis Kavisu told The Standard on Sunday the Foreign ministry had returned a ‘Yes consent’. “What remains is the formal appointment, which the former VP has no problem with,” said Mr Kavisu.

Kavisu, however, pointed out that taking up the appointment would not affect Kalonzo’s political engagements as the Wiper leader or CORD coprincipal in anyway. “He will still play his role in politics the same way he has done before.
