Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots will not give up the hope for a fair and sustainable solution and they will never abandon the efforts to achieve this goal.
This is stated in the joint communique issued by the leaders and representatives of the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties that met today in the framework of regular meetings under the auspices of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Nicosia.
Their joint communique was read out by the Ambassador of Slovakia Oxana Tomova who said that the representatives of the parties expressed their opinions on the issue “Resuming the talks – Prospects for a solution” which was proposed by the hosting Greek Cypriot party EPALXI.
The political parties urged the two leaders to look at the future beyond the past and sincerely create a strong foundation for a solution, she added.
The next regular meeting of the G/c and T/c parties will be held on May 27.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. A new round of UN-backed talks to reunite the island under a federal roof is set to commence soon.
