George Michael appeals to fans for TV documentary footage

It was first reported last year (15) that the Faith singer and his Wham! partner Andrew Ridgeley would be the subjects of a documentary to mark the 30th anniversary of the duo’s final gig at London’s Wembley Stadium in 1986.

Progress is now being made on the production and representatives for George, who is thought to be planning a big comeback, has sent an email request to fans asking for clips, pictures and other memorabilia which can be used in the documentary.

“Seeking: Rare Wham! and George Michael media,” the email reads, according to Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “George Michael is personally reaching out to fans and friends asking for rare Wham! and George Michael footage in all media forms, from 1988 through 1996.”

They are seeking footage showing concert crowds, screaming fans and clips of “George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley backstage, leaving venues, at hotels or in limos.”

It was previously reported George and Andrew, who were in Wham! for five years in the 1980s, would reunite for a one-off show to be filmed for the documentary, set to air in the autumn (16).

It would be a big comeback for George, who hasn’t been on stage since 2012 and reportedly spent time in rehab last year (15) – allegations which were denied. It was previously suggested he was planning a comeback tour to kick off later this year (16) but his spokeswoman said there were “no official plans”.
