Greece Cup

Olympiakos and AEK crashed out of the Greek Cup on Wednesday, with PAOK and OFI beating them at their home ground in the quarterfinals.

Last year’s finalist OFI Crete scored the round’s upset with its 1-0 win at AEK, courtesy of an Eddie Salcedo late strike that sank the hosts. OFI finished the game at Nea Filadelfia with nine players.

As for last year’s winner, Olympiakos, it will have to relinquish its crown as it went down 2-0 at home to PAOK.

The Thessaloniki giant scored twice in the first 15 minutes, through Anestis Mythou and Magomed Ozdoev, to become the top favorite for the trophy now.

In the semis PAOK will face Panathinaikos, that defeated Aris 3-0 at the Olympic Stadium of Athens courtesy of a Tasos Bakasetas hat trick, two goals coming from the penalty spot.

The other semifinal will be between OFI and Levadiakos, as the surprise package of the season beat Kifissia 2-0 in Livadia. Hordur Magnusson and Guillermo Balzi were on target for Levadiakos.

Unlike the quarterfinals, the semis will be home-and-away fixtures, scheduled for the first couple of weeks of February.
