Greece Super League

AEK and Olympiakos gained some advantage over PAOK, that dropped two points at Larissa on Sunday, as the Yellows and the Reds scored comfortable home wins for the Super League.

Levadiakos’ dream run in league and cup is now coming off course, as after its failure to reach the Cup final due to a home loss to OFI, the season’s surprise package is now risking missing out on the fourth spot that leads to the playoffs and to next season’s European competition.

On Sunday the pride of Livadia lost 4-0 at leader AEK. The hosts shook off the absence of fans at the stands, owing to a stadium ban, and kept a clean sheet against the league’s best offense, while scoring with Harold Moukoudi, Luka Jovic, Petros Mantalos and Razvan Marin.

Therefore AEK stayed two points clear of Olympiakos that defeated visiting Panetolikos 2-0 on Saturday, courtesy of goals by Lorenzo Pirola and Yusuf Yazici.

PAOK lost ground away from home, as Larissa held it to a 1-1 draw. The visitors went ahead with Dimitris Hatsidis, but Larissa earned a point thanks to Anyelo Zagal.

Panathinaikos built on its good showing last Thursday against Viktoria Plzen, to beat host OFI 2-0 in Crete. Andreas Tetteh was on target again for the Greens, along with Davide Calabria who scored from the penalty spot, taking the Athens giant within striking distance from Levadiakos.

In other games this weekend, bottom team Panserraikos downed Volos 2-1, Aris shared a 1-1 draw with Kifissia and Atromitos put Asteras into further trouble with its 2-1 victory at Tripoli.

AEK tops the table with 52 points, Olympiakos is on 50, PAOK reached 47, Levadiakos stayed on 39, Panathinaikos has 36 and Aris climbed to 28. PAOK and Panathinaikos have a game in hand.
