According to a Greek government source, Tsipras asked the State Secretary to exert influence on Turkey as regard the Cyprus solution, which must be based on UN Security Council resolutions and the acquis communautaire.

According to the same source, the US government has shown strong interest in a Cyprus settlement, which is among its top priorities.

The Greek government source told CNA that the US have a role to play as regards the refugee crisis, while at the same time Greece intends to intensify its contacts with Ankara.
