Ryman League Division 1 North 21st February 2016 at Chadfields, Tilbury
Haringey Borough’s third “home” game at Tilbury in eight days was against Romford, a fellow team in the mix for a relegation spot. After having to play on Sunday, Boro’s manager made six changes to the starting line-up.
The first half was uneventful as both teams didn’t want to lose and the only chances happened in the closing minutes when Haringey had two goes at opening the scoring but Romford defenders blocked the shots and scrambled the ball away.
The second half started much like the first finished. Haringey were having much more of the possession, but not having any clear cut chances, until on fifty-one minutes, when Dan Aristidou hit the bar from the edge of the box.
Five minutes later Romford’s number ten scored. His right foot shot across goal found the bottom of the net to give them a lead no one had seen coming.
It took Haringey ten minutes to equalise and again it was that man Joshua Willer. Scoring a close range header from Aristidou’s pin point cross.
After that the only action was again Aristidou bringing a good one handed save from the Romford keeper
The game finishing 1-1, Romford were much happier with the point but it still means that Haringey moved further away from the relegation zone.
On Saturday 27th Borough travel to Wroxham (North Norfolk) for what should be another close game. Then on Tuesday they play at Tilbury for another “home” match versus Thamesmead Town.
