Help Create Haringey’s Story
As Haringey’s Civic Centre prepares to reopen in 2027, we are creating a Time Capsule to capture a snapshot of life across our borough today.
We want future generations to discover the people, places, memories, traditions and experiences that make Haringey unique. That’s why we are inviting community groups to help tell Haringey’s story in 2026.
A Simple Question
What would you want someone living in Haringey 50 years from now to know about life here today?
There are no right or wrong answers. We want to hear what matters most to people.
Easy ways to get involved
Have a Conversation
• Spend 15 minutes discussing questions such as:
• What makes Haringey special?
• What makes your community unique?
• What should future generations remember?
• What are your hopes for the future?
Create Something
People could contribute:
• A message to future residents
• A photograph
• A drawing or painting
• A poem or story
• A letter to the future
• A memory of life in Haringey
• A group artwork or project
Make a Group Submission
Your organisation could submit something that represents your community, such as:
• A group photograph
• A collection of quotes or memories – pinned to a wall and photographed as a collage
• A short history of your group
• A piece of artwork
• A message to future residents
What Can Be Submitted?
The physical Time Capsule is relatively small, so we are looking for small but meaningful items.
Examples include:
• Photographs
• Letters
• Postcards
• Drawings
• Small keepsakes
• Community badges
• Printed artwork
If something cannot fit inside the capsule, it may still be included as part of the digital archive.
Help Us Hear Every Voice
We want the Time Capsule to reflect the full diversity of Haringey.
We are particularly keen to hear from communities whose stories and experiences are not always represented in local history, helping future generations gain a richer picture of life in our borough today.
Every voice, every neighbourhood and every generation has something valuable to contribute.
