If you’d like to wear a poppy to one of these events at the weekend, they can be found in Haringey’s libraries and on the reception desk of Alexandra House and George Meehan House in Wood Green.
The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal runs until Remembrance Day and money raised goes towards its welfare and benevolent work in support of serving and ex-service people and their families.
The Mayor of Haringey, Cllr Ahmed Mahbub, launched The Poppy Appeal in Haringey last month. Speaking as he purchased his poppy at the time, Cllr Mahbub said:
As we approach Remembrance Day, I encourage everyone in Haringey to wear a poppy with pride and to support the Royal British Legion.
The poppy is a powerful symbol of remembrance and hope, honouring those who gave their lives in service and those who continue to serve today.
By wearing the poppy and contributing to the Poppy Appeal, we show our gratitude and help provide vital support to veterans and their families. Together, let us remember and ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten.
