Broxbourne Council will be delivering a summer holiday ‘Fit and Fed’ programme in Waltham Cross to help tackle the triple inequalities of holiday hunger, isolation and inactivity experienced by some young people in the school holidays.
Fit and Fed is a national StreetGames UK project and the Waltham Cross version is held at Isabella House Nursery – and brings together many community partners including B3Living and Aldwyck Housing Group.
The programme is open to any young person aged 8-16, in receipt of free school meals or for families feeling the pinch over the summer holidays.
Every week day throughout the holiday period, up to 20 local school children will enjoy 2 nutritious meals and a range of sport and physical activity programmes delivered by professional coaches.
The programme will start on Monday 22 July at 10.00am, with breakfasts being served till 10.30am. An open activity session will follow from 10.30am – 12.00pm for anyone to take part in before lunch is served until 12:30pm.
For more information or to check a child’s eligibility for the scheme, please contact Matthew Ridley, Sport Development Officer at Broxbourne Council on 01992 785555 or email matthew.ridley@broxbourne.gov.uk.
