A man from Limassol is in hospital with serious injuries to his spine after being involved in a horrific car crash on Sunday night.
According to traffic police, the 23-year-old motorist was travelling in his car on Methanon Street when – under circumstances still being investigated – lost control of his vehicle, mounted a pavement lined with parking poles before then overturning and crashing into an electricity pole and a garden wall.
The fire services were called to free the man from the mangled wreckage before being rushed to Limassol General Hospital.
Due to the extent of his injuries – which doctors say included a fracture to his spine – he was later transferred to Nicosia General Hospital.
