After a hugely successful season for KOPA Football League in the UK team KLN football club which included promotion, a tour of Cyprus, some good cup runs and an impressive record of only one league loss all season, more good news for the club came when player Spyros Mentis signed a professional contract with Cypriot football club Ahironas.
After successful trials organised by the well connected KLN committee, dynamic defensive midfielder Spyro was quickly snapped up by the Cypriot side and becomes the 4th KLN player in recent years to have been helped on to a higher level by the club, this being the most high profile.
Stavros Michalakis the KLN chairman confirmed the deal and stated ” Spyro is a huge talent with a great career ahead. After only one season with us he brought great professionalism and despite his young age, experience to the club. We are all about nurturing young talent and developing the players to help further their careers.
With manager Kenny Dyer and the clubs wealth of contacts we are in a great position to do so.
Spyro isn’t the first and won’t be the last player we help further their career.
Rio Bryan Edwards, Luis Almeida, Ricardo Ramos and Max Papacosta are all young talents and players we have and will move on to higher standards. We have no doubt at KLN that this is just the beginning of Spyros journey, not only is he a huge talent but his humility and willingness to constantly learn and improve will be invaluable to his career. We wish him every success and thank him for his services to KLN football club, where he not only brought huge talent but helped with coaching and became an integral part of hugely successful season for all connected with the club.”
