On a hot evening last night we saw another KOPA League football extravanganza in the Division 2 Cup Final sponsored by Buzz Sweets which was played at Cheshunt Stadium.
I was surprised to see Pantel pull out all the stoppers to try and win this game. They were a goal down in the 20th minute when they conceded a penalty for Jason Mason to score the first goal for Apoel. Pantel came back they had a good spell when they had some good chances but were not deadly in front of goal but were eventually rewarded when Andy Panayi who conceded the penalty scored from a scramble in the Apoel penalty area to give Pantel a worthy equaliser.
In the second half again Pantel pushed Apoel back with man of the match Larry creating major problems for Apoel and causing them to sit back in defence and try and counter attack but against the run of play Apoel took the lead with a lone shot from Richard Worrall and again Pantel kept plodding away grafting creating chance after chance and deservedly got an equaliser with Reyes and in the final minutes they nearly pinched the game with two clear chances missed.
Into extra time it went but it was a much different in this part of the game for Pantel it may have been tiredness set in or heads went down that after Apoel’s third goal it just was one way traffic after that in Apoel’s favour their three goals in extra time coming from Andreas and two from Jason Mason a great final.
