Second placed Omonia slipped up with this defeat versus Anorthosis. A big turnaround for Anorthosis who lost 5-0 to Omonia in their last game but this time they started well and had a penalty miss in the first half with Danny Coolridge but he made amends when he scored later.

Omonia took the lead with a goal from Ricardo then a Anorthosis defender Stephano free kick was deflected by the blues striker Alex Roussis into the Omonia net in the 75th minute and added a second in the 80th minute on the counter attack Danny Coolridge received the ball on the half way line passed one player and then slotted the ball past the oncoming Omonia keeper Erbil to give Anorthosis a shock 2-1 win.

Teams1

Division Two Cup in memory of Michael Tzouvanni

First Round

KLN 1 Cetinkaya Cinar 1 (Cetinkaya Cinar won on penalties)

Another cup win for Cetinkaya Cinar who were buoyant after beating Arachne last week. Cinar took a deserved lead just before half time when Salih Karakis squeezed the ball at the near post for 0-1.

The second half was more of an even affair. The equalizer came in the 63rd minute, a KLN free kick into the Cinar penalty area brought about a scramble which their player Christopher Jackson capitalised for 1-1.

The game went to penalties and Cinar’s superior kicks at 4-1, puts them into the next round.

Pantel 2 Maronites 6

Maronites were one nil down within ten minutes but i don’t know what happened at the half time team talk because they came out a different team scoring four goals to 1-4 Pantel adding another goal to reduce the score to 4-2 then in the last ten minutes Maronites added another two goals giving Maronites a 4-2 win. Scorers for Maronites were Marcus Archer 2, Tanner Bacyali 2, Lewis Barclay penalty and Tyler Barclay. Pantel’s goals were scored by Michael Knight and Alex Constantinou.

Achna 3 Asha 1

This match was not for the fainthearted ,Asha took the lead on 2 minutes with a Andy Nicholas shot that come off the underside of the bar Achna equalised with a goal that came from Theoklis Charalambous 10th minute and on 27th minute Achna, who had been under pressure from Asha, broke away when Jack Haspineall took the ball from just inside the Asha half and managed to go passed a couple of defenders and score from the edge of the box with the ball coming off the keeper. You could see the 9 man Achna players literally on their knees and Asha who had 90% possession of the play just could not score and a 90th minute penalty scored by Theoklis Charalambous put the game out of Asha’s reach and a game versus Maronites in the next round.
