What a great exhibition of football we had on Sunday at New River Astro.

Tripimeni 3 Cetinkaya Cinar 2
Tripimeni were quick off the mark and were 2-0 up within fifteen minutes, first with a penalty goal from Alfie Bartram then at the end of the first quarter Peter Antoniades added a second goal and it stayed like that until the later stages of the second half when Cetinkaya Cinar pulled one back with a great long distance shot from Josh Djelal. This woke up Tripimeni who went on to increase their lead to 3-1 when a shot from George Gregoriou was parried by the Cinar keeper Remzi but the ball fell into the path of Ahmet Rifat who shot into the empty net. Cetinkaya Cinar would not give in and with few minutes left a scramble in the Tripimeni defence left Samuel score for Cinar and reduce their score to 3-2 but Tripimeni kept their lead to now go into the final to play New Salamis at Cockfosters FC next Sunday.

Arachne 1 Cyprus Youth (KLN) 4
Last year’s Second division cup winners and newly promoted Arachne could not get a grip on KLN on Sunday who really put up a great performance. This game was a repeat of last year’s final which Arachne won 3-2.
Arachne were 2-0 down in no time the first KLN goal was scored by Luis Almeida after he dribbled twice past the Arachne keeper Aidan to then stroke the ball into an empty net. KLN then added a second with a goal from their striker Kan and just before half time Damien Spyrou scored for Arachne to make it 2-1.
The second half Arachne had plenty of possession and created chances but KLN were always a danger on the counter attack and it showed when twice defensive errors by Arachne allowed the KLN forward Ricardo to pounce and score two goals and give KLN a 4-1 win and a cup final place versus Brotherhood at Cockfosters FC next Sunday.
