Greek Cypriot Leonidas Leonidou has secured a place at the Virgin Money London Marathon which will take place on 24th April 2016 in London. He will be running for the Leonard Cheshire Disability, a charity which supports thousands of disabled people in the UK and works in over 50 countries. His target is £1,800.
Currently living in Cyprus, Leonidas hails from a family with tradition in athletics, as both his parents were track champions during the 60’s. He is a long distance runner since 1978 and since then, has participated to numerous sport events in Cyprus and abroad, representing our island.
Leonidas was also the only Cypriot marathon runner to finish the Boston Marathon in 2013.
He told parikiaki, “I feel really close to the Greek Cypriot community as I have close family members who live in London. I would really appreciate if people can donate any amount for a good cause, helping disabled people to live independently, supporting them to pursue their goals and to live full lives.”
