For the first time in 39 years, a liturgy will be held on Monday at the Turkish-occupied village of Ayia Triada, on the occasion of Epiphany, led by Bishop of Karpasia Christophoros, who will be accompanied by priests encalved in Karpasia, Zacharias and Constantinos.
Many refugees from Karpasia are expected to travel to Ayia Triada on Monday, where Bishop Christophoros will also bless the water at the Ayios Therissos bay, in Yialousa, opposite the very old church of Ayios Therissos, where holy water is to be found.
Arrangements have already been made to transport the pilgrims from points across the government-controlled areas of the Republic to the church.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third.
