Six fire engines and 35 firefighters and officers are currently attending a fire at Archway metal works on Paxton Road in Tottenham.
Half of the ground floor and the whole of the first floor were alight, but the fire is now under control.
Crews will remain at the scene this morning damping down remaining hot spots. There are no reports of any injuries.
Fire engines from Tottenham, Edmonton and Stoke Newington fire stations are at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 0518 and the fire was brought under control at 0752. The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
Archway Metalworks were the last remaining business standing in the way of Tottenham Hotspur’s proposed new stadium.
The owners of the factory suspect arson, according to ITV News.
They say they have previously received threats over their continued refusal to vacate the site to allow Tottenham to proceed with the £400m stadium.
The owners of the sheet metal factory are involved in a protracted dispute with Spurs who have been trying to buy 25,000 sq ft site in Paxton Road for more than 10 years.
Tottenham had hoped to complete the new 56,000-seat stadium in time for the start of the 2017-18 season, but the ongoing dispute had been blocking the development’s progress.
Peter Josif, the co-owner of Archway, said previously: “We are doing what we feel is right and we feel we have a legal case. We want Tottenham to prosper as well but this is not about a company just sitting back and being an obstacle.”
