Marcos will turn his attention to Wimbledon, where he is making his 12th appearance. A semifinalist in 2006, he will seek his 20th match win at the historic tournament when he opens against local hope James Ward today Tuesday. Marcos owns a 19-11 tournament record.
Marcos lone meeting with Ward came at Queen’s Club in 2009, prevailing in straight sets. Should he win their opening encounter at Wimbledon, he will face either 13th-seed Grigor Dimitrov or Diego Schwartzman in the second round. Seven-time champion Roger Federer and big-hitting John Isner also loom large in his quarter of the draw. Isner is a potential third round opponent, while he could face Federer in the Round of 16.
