The MET Police are committed to building more trust and con- fidence with our local communities and we are thrilled to be involved with the Cypriot Wine Festival and Business Expo 2024.
On Saturday 5th October and Sunday 6th October 2024, PC Ahmed, a Youth Engagement Officer for Haringey and Enfield, PC Hunt, a Safer Neighbourhood Officer for Tottenham Central Ward, and PC Niewola, a Safer Neighbourhood Officer for Tottenham Hale Ward, interacted with thousands of people at this family friendly event where thousands of people attended over the weekend.
The objective was to provide general crime prevention advice to all, distribute crime prevention materials, and be available to answer any questions or concerns brought to their attention.
Officers also raised awareness on crimes committed towards Women and Girls (VAWG) and the ways in which Haringey and Enfield are working to help reduce and prevent these types of offences from occurring.
VAWG is a global, national, and local issue and the MET are committed to protecting the public from harm.
The MET launched a new action plan in December 2023 outlining how to improve our response to Violence against Women and Girls.
Officers were also there to raise awareness on spiking offences across London, and some of the signs to watch out for.
Spiking is when someone puts alcohol or drugs into another person’s drink or body without their consent or knowledge. It can be difficult to tell if your drink has been spiked, but if you notice any changes to the appearance or taste to your drink, stop drinking it. If you are in a bar or club alert staff members/security and the Police immediately.
With thanks to George Tsialos and Bambos Charalambous for making the Police feel so very welcomed at this event.
Great feedback from the local community.
PC Anna Maria Demetriou
