First Division Cup
Final
New Salamis 4 Tripimeni 0
What a glorious day it was yesterday at Cockfosters FC for the Final of the First Division Cup and there were hundreds there to enjoy it.
A great game with lots of entertaining flowing football and of course lots of goals. Tripimeni who were last year’s winners of this cup started off badly and were two nil down in no time when from a corner taken by Steve Velandia the ball flew straight into the back of the net where a scramble to try occurred and where it seemed Shamir Mullings may have got a final touch to it.
The second goal after some great team work by the Red’s ended up with Steve Velandia on the edge of the box to slam the ball into the back of the net. But for me the third goal was a cracker and probably the best goal of the season when John Kyriacou hit an absolute screamer from just outside the box into the top corner of the net.
Into the break 3-0 up and a great atmosphere oozing around the ground the second half Tripimeni were trying to get back into the game but with no avail and with 15 minutes to go Richard Georgiou scored to give New Salamis a 4-0 win and the Second Division Cup which was presented to the New Salamis Captain Chris Xiouri by the Chairman of the KOPA League Lakis Chrysostomou.
