Match Report :

New Salamis travelled the short distance to Barnet to face Step 5 Spartan Premier League side Hadley FC in another very tough friendly.

However as a neutral you would be hard pushed to tell who were the Step 5 or Step 7 side.

Salamina dominated the first half. Keeping the ball and creating chances. Harrison Georgiou was back and very nearly opened the scoring in the 5 minute, but missed his chance.

Salamina controlled the game and thought they had gone ahead when young Nicholas Kouroushi’ shot was saved and John Kyriacou followed up the rebound only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.

Hadley offered little except for long diagonal balls into channels which the Salamina defence coped easily with.

Salamina went 1-0 up from a flowing move, quick interplay from Ryan Hervel and Leon Fisher found Harrison he found John Kyriacou on the right, who squared the ball into the area, where Nicholas Kouroushi scored from 14 yards out into the Hadley net 1-0 Salamina.

Half time 1-0 and comfortable.

Second half saw Hadley equalise very early for 1-1 from a defensive mix up. With both teams now struggling with the heat Salamina made a number of changes with trialists coming on the hour mark. Hadley took over the game and ran out 4-1 Winners with superior fitness showing. Another great test for Salamina with a number of players still missing and fitness not quite there yet.

This Saturday 28th July sees Salamina play another Step 5 side Walthamstow FC at Enfield Grammar School with a 2.00pm kick off.
