Division One Cup
Second Round
Apoel 1 New Salamis 3
Outsiders Apoel made it difficult for New Salamis the match favourites, who eventually won to go through to the semi final to play Livadia.
Both teams were cancelling each out in the early part of the first half. It then took a penalty late in the first half to break the deadlock from Richard Georgiou.
This seem to motivate Apoel who pressured the New Salamis rearguard and missed a few good chances to equalise. and eventually they got their reward when from just outside the box when Apoel’s Boyaa struck calmly from the edge of the box to make it 1-1.
Apoel continued to attack and now began believing they could win.
It took till the latter part of the second half when Alex and Harrison Georgiou came on who made a massive difference for the reds.
New Salamis second goal came when Charlie from the left passed to his brother Harrison who calmly dribbled passed a player before slotting the ball home..
The winning goal for New Salamis came a few minutes later when Charlie was left on his own to run forward towards the goal and score.
