Nicosia hospital left without water

Nicosia General Hospital was not spared from water cuts as thousands of residents around Nicosia went dry on Friday.

Nicosia Water Board Director Nikos Zampakkidis had told state radio that the district of Nicosia would be “reconnected by this afternoon” following maintenance and technical problems that later arose from the works.

Administrators at the main hospital in Nicosia confirmed that daily operations had been affected by the water cuts.

He also claimed that his department had issued the relative announcements on the upcoming water-cuts, as a result of the scheduled works even though phone lines went into overdrive at the water board from members of the public calling.

Meanwhile, Director of the Water Development Department Director Andreas Manolis explained that a problem occurred during construction work which led to the prolonged amount of time for some areas being without water.

“We had some work in Tersefanou in which experienced a problem with one of the pipes which we needed to be fixed. This was unforeseen issue which was why we had the delay.”
