A group of Slimming World consultants have been congratulated for helping slimmers to lose weight and change their lives by singer and television presenter Peter Andre.
Sara Whittaker, of Balderton, said the consultants were proud of their members, many of whom had seen improved health and gained confidence by hitting their target weights.
“It is so rewarding to see people able to do things they did not think were possible before losing weight,” she said.
“Whether that is having more energy, feeling happier, wearing smaller clothes, taking up new hobbies, reducing medication or doing more with their family and friends.
“Each week we feel extremely lucky to play even a small part in people’s achievements.”
Sara, who runs a group at Sutton-on-Trent, was joined at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre, by fellow consultants Ellie Gray (Barnby Road Academy, Newark) Lesley Boyles (Ollerton) and Kath Smith (Farnsfield).
Sara said Peter Andre, whose brother died from cancer, had supported the organisation’s most successful fundraising event yet — the Big Slimming World Clothes Throw — which raised £3.3m in two weeks for Cancer Research UK by encouraging members to donate clothes, shoes, bags and accessories.
Peter said: “I met so many incredible people [at the awards] who had lost amazing amounts of weight and transformed themselves, inside and out.”
