Young Cypriots in the UK are being encouraged to register their interest for the NEPOMAK World Conference 2026, taking place from 28–31 July in Nicosia, Cyprus.
Held every two years, the World Conference is NEPOMAK’s largest international gathering, uniting members from all eight regional branches for three days of cultural events, strategic discussions and community building. As NEPOMAK’s flagship event, it offers young diaspora Cypriots the chance to connect, collaborate and influence the organisation’s global direction.
Who is eligible to attend?
NEPOMAK membership – and therefore eligibility to take part in World Conference – is open to: Anyone aged 18–30, living outside Cyprus, with at least one Cypriot grandparent.
This makes the conference accessible to thousands of young people across the UK with Cypriot roots.
What delegates can expect
The conference features a blend of seminars, interactive workshops and policy-focused sessions designed to strengthen engagement across the global diaspora. Delegates will have the opportunity to:
● Discuss and implement new initiatives to support young Cypriots globally
● Meet and engage with Cypriot government ministers, diplomats and other decision-makers
● Attend a formal reception at the Presidential Palace and the televised opening ceremony
● Receive updates on the Cyprus issue from senior political leaders
● Elect NEPOMAK’s new governing body
● Take part in lively evening events and experience Nicosia’s vibrant nightlife
Accommodation will be arranged for delegates who need it, and flight costs will be partly subsidised, ensuring that young people from around the world can take part.
A meaningful way to reconnect with Cyprus
Previous attendees have described the conference as both educational and inspiring – a rare opportunity to meet peers from across the global Cypriot community, gain insights into Cyprus’s political landscape, and contribute to the long-term vision of the diaspora.
Matthaios Tuton, President of NEPOMAK UK, said: “We saw firsthand how empowering this experience is for young people. As well as meetings and workshops, it’s about forming friendships, shaping the future of NEPOMAK, and deepening your connection to Cyprus. One of the best bits of the conference is meeting so many other Cypriots from around the world.”
Elle Zacharia, Vice President of NEPOMAK UK, added: “This conference is a real chance for young Cypriots to feel part of something bigger – a global community that shares history, heritage and ambition. Each World Conference strengthens our collective voice.”
Mary Joannou, a past delegate and Committee Member of NEPOMAK UK, shared her experience: “World Conference completely changed how I saw my Cypriot identity. Meeting people from all over the world who felt the same connection was unforgettable. I came away inspired and more involved than ever.”
