A 25 foot long river boat moored on the River Lea near Bream Close in Tottenham was severely damaged by fire last night.
The Brigade was called by a member of the public who reported they’d heard a bang and explosion by the river.
Crew Manager Steve Hardy who was at the fire said:
“The boat was well alight when firefighters arrived and quickly put the fire out, but the boat was severely damaged by the blaze. A propane gas cylinder inside the boat was cooled down and made safe.”
Four fire engines and around 21 firefighters and officers from Tottenham and Walthamstow fire stations attended the incident.
The Brigade was called at 2245 and the fire was under control at 0039.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
