Russians arrested at Larnaca airport for making rude hand gesture to police officer

Two drunk Russian men spent a night in jail after causing a scene at the Larnaca Airport just before their departure flight to Moscow.

The two travellers, both aged 35 and holders of Russian passports, reportedly showed the middle finger to a police officer after he approached them in an effort to make them settle down.

According to reports, at least one of the Russian travellers made a rude hand gesture and got upset when a police officer asked them to be quiet.

Police arrested the couple and sent them to jail overnight to get over their hangover until the next day when they appeared in court, on Monday.

The judge imposed fines of €650 and €250 on the two men respectively, both of whom paid and headed for the Larnaca airport.

It was not immediately clear if the Russian travellers would find another flight soon enough or end up spending more time on the island at their own expense.
