The search for a 33-year-old National Guard sergeant from Yeroskipou, Paphos, who has been missing since yesterday morning will continue today, police said.
“We are not ruling out anything, it could be an accident, it could be a crime. We will continue the search tomorrow and all possibilities are open, including drowning,” a spokesman said.
The search by police and the civil defence for Michalis Stavrou, a father of two young childrenm, whose car was found abandoned at a Pegeia beach area, was suspended after darkness fell.
The keys were on the car when a tourist saw it and called the police.
Stavrou,who is from Paphos but serves at a Nicosia camp,left the capital for te coastal town early in the morning. He had not responded to any phone calls since then, relatives said.
