The Saints travelled deep into East London this week to play Hackney Wick Reserves FC, an experienced team, full of running.
The Saints pressed early and took the lead on the 3’, with Ayub Albadri with a great finish.
The home opposition were rattled by the energy of the visitors. The confidence grew and players were overtaking defenders and making great runs. This positive attitude was rewarded with a second goal from Jack Smith.
As the half progressed it was clear The Saints had more passion and were hungrier. But Hackney had some good moves on the left wing and pulled one back to make it 1-2.
The Saints persisted and again Ayub was in on goal and finished superbly to make it 1-3.
Some excellent saves and catches and clear punches from keeper Donald Manaj (Man of the Match) showed all round confidence throughout the team.
Deep in the second half The Saints hit the bar and almost made it four.
Lovely header from a corner by Elias Katsoloudi made it 1-5.
Hackney were frustrated and put in some bad and nasty tackles from their frustration.
Igli Sevaj hit the bar late in the game but it didn’t matter. A superb performance and tremendous result.
