Saints” – Record win
St. Panteleimon FC welcomed London United to Berkeley Fields for an exciting clash.
The cold December did not stop the teams from an energetic game.
The game started with a quick goal for The Saints on 3 minutes and then a succession of fluid passes and good finishing from Igli Sevaj made sure that the Saints took control. The first half finished 5-0.
Our centre-forward, Jack Smith, injured his ankle and had to be taken to Accident & Emergency. The foot was swollen and was diagnosed with ligament damage.
London United kept going and never let their heads go down. They were a sporting and clean playing team.
In the second half, more goals came from Nikos Salapatas (who was proclaimed “Man of the Match”) and Sevaj, who ended up with 4 goals each. Each had a bullet strike that was unstoppable. Superb finishing from two players on top form.
The Saints kept a clean sheet. Additional goals from Aristos Koumados (2) and Demetris Anastasiou made the score 11-0.
The Saints climb up the table and now have the second-best goal difference in the league at +25.
The Saints remain unbeaten in the league this season.
Next week we re-energize our Cup run with an away match against Hounslow Wanderers away, in the President’s First Division Cup.
We dedicate this win to Jack Smith and wish him a speedy recovery.
