Strictly Come Dancing star Pasha Kovalev brought his sensational new stage production to London on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 April. It’s All About You landed at the Millfield Theatre in Edmonton, as part of a 74-date nationwide tour this Spring. The 35-year-old Siberian-born professional dancer brought the same charming enthusiasm to the stage as he does to the hit BBC show every year, transporting the audience to the world of ballroom and Latin dance with all its glitter and sequins.
It was non-stop action from beginning to end; a sparkle-packed journey through life and love, expressed through the language of dance. Adding effective symmetry throughout the show on a large projector, Carol Kirkwood (Pasha’s 2015 Strictly partner) nailed the attraction of dancing.
The production featured a good mixture of dance and live singing, courtesy of Ricky Rojas, an accomplished theatre singer who is phenomenal in my opinion.
Pasha and his partner Anya Garnis were absolutely breathtaking; the chemistry between them is electric and their choreography out of this world.
Two other couples completed the cast – James Wilson, Marcella Solimeo, Robert Rowinski and Victoria Burke.
Together, they formed an impressive group, seamlessly showcasing all styles of dance from graceful ballroom to fiery Latin. A standout performance was a mesmerising contemporary piece to Sia’s Chandelier which drew gasps and cheers from the audience. The highlight of Friday evening however, was the audience participation section of the show. Pasha invited three lucky local ladies onto the stage to dance with him – including my crazy auntie Thalia Zindilis! The fearless trio wiggled and twirled their way through their dance sequences though Mrs Zindilis was definitely the most entertaining, adding to the fun by doing more than salsa with the hot dancer! Well Pasha did tell me backstage before the show, “As a performer, that is the best thing that can happen – my audience enjoying themselves and not holding back.” My auntie certainly did that! It’s All About You lived up to its name, making sure fans enjoyed their evening and witnessed a jaw-dropping show jam-packed with talent and energy.
Fingers crossed Pasha and his team return next year with another amazing production!
