The Association of Democratic Resistance Fighters denounces the non-broadcasting of the burial of the remains of those murdered by EOKA B
“Unfortunately, it is through these actions too that the falsification of the historical truth is systematically cultivated, and forgetfulness is consolidated in our people, with tragic consequences for their future, the solution of the Cyprus problem and the reunification of our country”

The Pancyprian Association of Democratic Resistance Fighters expresses its displeasure at the stand taken by TV stations who, it says, chose not to broadcast in their news the burial of the remains of the resistance heroes and brothers Charalambos and Tasos Christofi Siammas who were brutally murdered by EOKA B, a burial which took place on Saturday 12 November in their birthplace Fikardou.
“Unfortunately, it is also through these actions that the falsification of the historical truth is systematically cultivated and forgetfulness is consolidated among our people, with tragic consequences for their future, the solution of the Cyprus problem and the reunification of our country”, the statement pointed out.
The slogan “I do not forget”, the Association adds, is not some empty slogan, nor is it open to interpretation according to political origin, exploitation, opportunism and patronage.
“We do not forget the protagonists of the Cyprus tragedy. Grivas and EOKA II, the Greek Junta, the dirty role of NATO and the Americans-British.
We do not forget the murderers of the democratic resistance fighters, the systematic destruction of democracy with the campaign of lawlessness launched against President Makarios and the lawful government.
We do not forget and will not betray the memory of the thousands of dead of the Turkish invasion, the suffering, the missing persons, the enclaved people [in the occupied areas] and our refugees,” it stressed.
The Association of Democratic Resistance Fighters further states that not only will it not forget, but it will continue to cultivate and teach the younger generations the real history of the Cyprus tragedy, against all those mechanisms attempting to silence them.
“Shame on those who continue on the same destructive path as those who in 1974 turned their weapons against our compatriots, against our homeland!
Shame on those who even today vote for funds to be released [from the state budget] for the construction of museums in honor of the destroyer Grivas!
Shame on all those who provide cover for them and attempt to cloud the judgment of our people!” the statement concluded.
