All Easter services will be live streamed to our Facebook page. Please find the Easter Programme here. We wish you all a joyful and blessed Pascha!

We can only allow as many people in the church as is safe, to keep social distancing and not to break the law. If you are asked not to enter the church it is because the church is at capacity. Please be understanding and follow the instructions of the committee members.

2 Divine Liturgies will take place on Holy Thursday morning and Holy Saturday morning. Holy Communion will be administered at the end of both of these Liturgies.

On Holy Friday due to the pandemic there will be no procession with the ‘Epitafio’ outside of the church.

There will be 2 services of the holy light and Resurrection on Holy Saturday evening. After the first service the people will leave and the church will be closed and cleaned. After the second service there will be Matins and the Divine Liturgy of the Resurrection of the Lord.

Inside the church please wear a mask covering your nose and mouth and try not to move from where you are asked to be seated.

The church car park will be closed from Palm Sunday through Holy week and Easter

Due to the pandemic this year’s Easter Program of our Church has been readjusted, as follows:
1. Except for the Vespers and the Holy Liturgy of Basil the Great (9.00 am – 11.00 am), on Holy Thursday and Holy Saturday a special Holy Liturgy will take place early in the morning for our working parishioners, the Holy Gifts being available from 6.30 am to 12.00 pm the latest, to facilitate the flow of the people within our Church.
2. On Holy Friday, the Service of the Epitaphios will take place twice; the first one from 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm and the second one from 7.30 pm to 9.00 pm, the Church remaining closed for the necessary sanitation between the two services. You are kindly reminded that, due to the pandemic, there will be no Procession of the Epitaphios out of the Church.
3. On Holy Saturday, the Service of Pannychis (Good Word) and the Ceremony of our Lord’s Resurrection will take place twice; the first one from 8.30 pm to 9.45 pm (without ensuing Matins and Holy Liturgy), and the second one from 11.15 pm to 12.15 am, followed by Matins and Holy Liturgy. The Church will remain closed for the necessary sanitation between the two services.
You are also kindly reminded that, in the Church, it is mandatory to keep the regulated social distancing, and always use your personal mask, unless you are medically exempted. Please follow the instructions of the Church Committee.

Restrictive measures are in place due to the coronavirus pandemic and to facilitate the participation of the faithful in the services of Holy Week and Pascha we ask for your patience during this time. Capacity at the church is heavily restricted and we will be operating a first-come-first-served policy for the whole week. Once the maximum capacity has been reached the gates leading to the entrance will be closed.
There will be two services on Holy Saturday evening of the Agio Fos and Kalos Logos, the first at 9pm and the second at 11pm.
The first service will end at 10pm and those attending must leave at this time.
We ask that those attending the 11pm service stay until the end of the Holy Liturgy which will begin just after midnight.
For the whole of Holy Week and Pascha we will be increasing the overall capacity of the church by placing additional seating in the hall.
We ask that social distancing be observed at all times whilst you are inside the church, at exits and whilst you are leaving the church.
Please also have a face covering for use inside and outside the church (unless exempt).
Moreover we ask that you follow the instructions of the wardens who will be clearly identifiable.
Please arrive on time (not too early and not too late), to help maintain social distancing.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation and we wish you a Blessed Pascha!

This message is to inform you of all the measures we will have in place during Holy Week. Please read all the information carefully as we will also rely on your cooperation to ensure the week is safe for all our congregation to attend.
To ensure the safety of all our community we are continuing with the strict measures we have already put in place. Only 50 people will be allowed to be seated in the church and we will have a further 50 seats in the hall. On Holy Saturday evening there will be an additional 50 seats outside in the car park should we need them. On Holy Saturday we will have the assistance of our local police officers to ensure social distancing is maintained. NO congregating or gathering will be permitted outside the church at any point during the evening, if this happens the police will ask you to return home.
We will be operating our track and trace record and taking the temperature of every congregation member. If your temperature is above 37 degrees you will be asked to return home. Once you have entered the church and lit your candle a church warden will seat you. Masks are mandatory and you will not be allowed to enter the church without one.
We do ask that you remain in your seat for the duration of the liturgies and only move from your seat if necessary.
MONDAY – THURSDAY
All liturgies will begin at 7pm.
GOOD FRIDAY
The church will be open from 6.45pm and the liturgy will begin at 7pm. Those seated in the church will have the opportunity to worship the epitaph, however, you are not permitted to kiss the icon or the gospel inside. As a result of the social distancing rules we are not permitted to have flower girls for this liturgy. There will be no procession of the epitaph by the congregation and only Father Aemilianos will carry out the procession.
HOLY SATURDAY EVENING
The church will be open from 9.30pm and the liturgy will begin at 9.45pm. In order to ensure the safety of all our congregation we have taken the decision to begin the service an hour earlier this year. Holy light will be brought out at 11pm. Everyone is to remain in their seats and Father Aemilianos will bring the Holy Light to the congregation row by row.
EASTER SUNDAY
The service held on Easter Sunday is called the Liturgy of Love. Traditionally the gospel is read out in many different languages by local members of the community, however due to the restrictions this will not be permitted, however you will be able to come in and light and candle. There will be no Holy Communion on this day.
Father Aemilianos is recommending that if you wish to take Holy Communion during Holy Week that you attend during weekday daytime services or the following weekday daytime services. If you fast during Holy Week you can still take communion even after breaking your fast on Easter Sunday. This is to ensure that we can safely offer Holy Communion to all who would like it.
We will also be live streaming all the evening services during Holy Week on our YouTube channel.
We hope that you all understand why we have to put such strict measures in place. Our priority is to ensure the safety of all our community and with your help and collaboration with following the measures we will be able to achieve this.
I wish you and your family Kali Anastasi and good health
Kind Regards
Miss Sophia Marcou

GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH OF THE HOLY TRANSFIGURATION – COVENTRY

HOLY WEEK AND EASTER SERVICES
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ
As most of you are aware, due to covid restrictions, there is limited space in the church for worshippers during services. To help accommodate as many people as possible, many services will be video streamed into the Church Hall during Holy Week.
Worshippers will be admitted on a first come first served basis for all Holy Week Services as per our current policy, with the exception of the Resurrection Services on Holy Saturday evening which will be by reservation only.
With the blessing of HE Archbishop Nikitas, this year we will have TWO RESURRECTION SERVICES on Holy Saturday night.
The first will begin at 8:30 pm and end by 10.00pm; the second will start at 11:00 pm until 2.00 am on Sunday morning. For these two services there is a BOOKING SYSTEM in place.
To secure your attendance for either one you MUST contact the Chairman of our Community Alex Panteli on 07846 313423 or via email alexpanteli@greekchurchcoventry.org.
PLEASE NOTE: WITHOUT BOOKING YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE RESURRECTION SERVICE ON SATURDAY NIGHT AND WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO STAND OUTSIDE.
There will be NO outdoor processions this year. All services will take place inside the Church including the Resurrection Services on Holy Saturday evening.
All attendees will have to register on arrival and have their temperature taken. Once they have sanitised their hands they will be directed to their seat by a member of the committee, where they must remain throughout the service.
The car park will remain closed on the evening of Holy Saturday and no Worshippers will be allowed to stand outside the Church.
Though this year’s services are maybe not ideal and certainly not what we are used to, we must remind ourselves that last year we were not permitted to attend any services as they all took place behind closed doors.
It is thus important to follow guidelines and be grateful that we can at least attend our Holy Services this Pascha. We must remain calm, loving towards others and follow the advice of the people in charge during the services. They are there voluntarily to keep us all safe, please show them respect. After all they are only making sure that we follow the laws and guidelines of the Government and the advice of our Holy Archdiocese.
REMINDER: YOU MUST BOOK YOUR ATTENDANCE FOR THE RESURRECTION SERVICES ON HOLY SATURDAY EVENING
Please book your attendance for the resurrection services on Holy Saturday evening as soon as possible. Once the church is full, places will be allocated in the Church Hall.
We wish you all a blessed Resurrection!
