Turnout in run-off Cyprus presidential elections 32.6% at 1200 local time

Polling stations closed at 1200 local time (10.00 GMT) for a one-hour break in Sunday’s run-off presidential elections, with the turnout at that time standing at 32.6% of registered voters, compared to 30.2% in last Sunday’s first round.

Chief Returning Officer Kypros Kyprianou announced that so far everything is running smoothly.

Polling stations will reopen at 1300 and will remain open until 1800. Votes will be counted at the polling stations and the results are expected to be known the latest by 1930 local time.

For comparison purposes, the turnout at 1200 in the 2013 second round of presidential elections was 36.9% and in the 2016 parliamentary elections 29,7%.
