UK Cypriot dies after fatal collision in Hatfield, Police make a witness and dash cam appeal

Police are appealing for witnesses, information and dash cam footage following a fatal road traffic collision in Hatfield.

Officers were called at 3.12pm yesterday (Wednesday 1 April) following reports of a serious road traffic collision on South Way.

Emergency services attended the scene, including the ambulance and fire service, and road closures were put in place.

A white Yamaha motorbike and a black Lexus were involved at the junction with Bishops Rise.

The motorbike rider, a UK cypriot man aged in his 30s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A 50-year-old man from Pinner was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Neil Crosier, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this very sad time.

“We are appealing for witnesses as we continue to establish the full circumstances of the collision. If you have any information or dash cam footage, please report it. I can be emailed directly with any details.”

If you have dash cam footage in relation to the collision, please upload this via DAMS.
