Louis Anastasiou, aged 20, was recently selected to represent Cyprus in their Men’s Field Hockey team at Full International level.
He made his debut in the ‘Oslo Series’, a friendly tournament against Norway and Finland last weekend, Friday 12th to Sunday 14th June.
They lost 4-1 to a much higher ranked Finland team, which was no disgrace, but beat hosts Norway 3-2!
Louis lives in Northaw, Potters Bar, studies at Loughborough University, where he captains one of the men’s hockey teams, and plays for Potters Bar Hockey Club in their Men’s First Team.
His grandparents are from Akapnou and Nicosia.
He has also represented Hertfordshire at Junior level for the under-14s, 15s, 16s, 17s and 18s.
If anyone is inspired by Louis’ success and would like to take up hockey, or is an experienced player looking for a new club, please call Tas Anastasiou at Potters Bar Hockey Club on 07957 650 468.
They have Junior and Senior teams for all levels, and everybody is welcome! Who knows…you too could represent your country one day!
