† DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT
Nicoulla Nιcolaou
(from Flamouthi, Cyprus)
On Wednesday 27th May 2020 our mother fell asleep. Nicoulla Nicolaou was born on 31st May 1954 in Flamouthi, Cyprus. She was the eldest of her three siblings Panayiota, Annoulla and Giorkis. At the age of 9, her family moved to Argios Sergios where Nicoulla grew up. At 16, Nicoulla left Cyprus and came to live in the UK. She was married at 18 and had three children Maria, Lucy and George. Nicoulla, or Nikki as she was known, was a vibrant and humorous character.
She was fiercely independent, extremely hard working and a straight talker. She had the most infectious laugh that would echo through any room and a huge heart. She loved to cook and enjoyed gathering her family together for lunches and bbq’s and wherever she was music would be played. In February 2016, Nicoulla was diagnosed with a non-curable Brain Cancer. In March 2016, she underwent brain surgery and was given a year to live. She went on to live more than 4 years since the surgery, such was her strength.
We miss our mother immensely. She leaves behind her three children Maria, Lucy and George and Rahima (who she loved as a daughter), two son in laws Andy and Frix, 11 grandchildren Sophia, Erin, Grace, Gigi, Zac, Iliana, Bella, Luca, Leo, Lexia and Bradley; her siblings Panayiota, Annoulla, Giorkis and her best friend Maro who she also loved as a sister along with her friend Despina and Sophie and many family members including nieces and nephews, friends and work colleagues who loved her dearly.
