We sadly announce that UK Cypriot Andrew Georgiou has passed away

DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT

Andrew Georgiou (from Famagusta, Cyprus) It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved Andrew (Patata/Spud) passed away suddenly in his garden on 8 April 2020 at the age of 70 years on the date of his 41st wedding anniversary.

He leaves behind his wife Irene, daughters Alexandra and Kristina and grandson Ocean all of whom he adored together with his three sisters Dora, Julie and Thalia.

Andrew’s sudden death has shocked and devastated his family and many friends. He was rarely seen without a smile on his face and was always ready with a quick witted response in any situation.

Andrew was born in Famagusta and his family came to the UK when he was 2 years old settling first in Liverpool and later in London. Andrew never quite lost his Liverpool accent of which he was quite proud. He played football, cricket, snooker, darts and golf and was adamant that he was the best and rarely accepted defeat. He was a co-founder of Dynamo FC which played in the KOPA League.

Andrew was a wonderful husband to Irene and doting father to Alexandra and Kristina and Bappou to Ocean. They will miss him dearly as will the rest of his family and friends.

May he Rest in Peace.

Due to the current circumstances there will be a very small private funeral at St Katherine’s Church on Friday 22 May 2020 with only the immediate family in attendance at the Church and at the Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held in the future.

Parikiaki Newspaper extend their condolences to the family
