ANDROULLA EVDOKIMOU
(from Lapithos, Cyprus)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother who passed away on 11th August 2024 in Cyprus, aged 78.
She leaves behind two children, Harry and Vasoulla, as well as her daughter-in-law Christalla, son-in-law Michael, her grandchildren Andriana, Stelios, Anna, Stella, Sophia and Andreas along with her two great grandchildren, Sophia and Harry. She also leaves behind her sister and many other relatives and friends.
Androulla came to London at 14 years old, leaving her parents and siblings back in Cyprus. Living with her uncle and his family in Islington, North London, she learnt to speak, read and write in English by attending evening classes and becoming a seamstress.
She will be remembered by all as a caring, loving and selfless person. She rejoiced in helping others and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
After the invasion of Cyprus in 1974, members of her family from Lapithos who had lost their homes came to London to stay with Androulla and her family. Although those times were difficult and heartbreaking with limited space, she made sure everyone was being looked after and gave hope to those around her, reassuring them that the future would be bright.
She now rests at peace, with her husband, Stelios.
RIP Androulla, and thank you.
