We sadly announce that UK Cypriot Fanos Nicholas has passed away

Fanos Nicholas sadly passed away on Friday 26th June 2020 at the age of 82 in Spain. He leaves behind his wife Helen his daughter Christine and son Nick and two grandchildren and his brother Yiannos.

Fanos Nicholas was born in Komi Kebir the son of Chrystalla and Nicolis. He came to England in the early 1950’s, to join his siblings Yiakoumis, Yiannos, Nitsa, Andrica, Tony and Elias, who had founded the bridal and cocktail wear manufacturing company Nicholas Brothers. The company became well known all over the world for their products and in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s, gave employment to thousands of Cypriots coming to England for a new future. Fanos studied medicine at University and then followed his brothers and sisters into the family business.

Fanos travelled extensively in his work, and always enjoyed meeting people and experiencing new places and was instrumental in helping to start and and run the Nicholas Brothers travel company. Later he was to join his wife Helen in helping her run her bridal manufacturing business called Helen Marina based in North London.

Fanos and family moved to Spain seventeen years ago and lived in Coin, in the Malaga district, in Southern Spain.

Fanos was an avid Arsenal fan and very devoted in continuing the name of his village Komi Kebir, in the occupied part of Cyprus, to thrive and helping his fellow villagers and village association in the UK and Cyprus.
