Maroulla Panayiotou

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday 8th July 2020, at the age of 93.
Maroulla was born in Koma tou yialou on March 6th, 1927, she was the youngest of 5 and moved to London in 1948 where she met and married her beloved husband Theophanis. Our father Theophanis came to England in 1936 from Larnaca and they met through Maroulla’s brother Michael Papantoniou.
Maroulla was a proud mother to Helen, Marianna, Dinos and Sophia and grandmother to Jason, Stephanie, Georgina, Thomas, Hannah, Eisa and Nicolas along with her 4 great grandchildren Leonardo, Marianna, Reem and Rashid.
Maroulla was a remarkably strong and fiercely independent women, who loved to cook and lived for family gatherings. She had the most beautiful garden breaming with fruit trees, plants and flowers, for which she was very proud of and spent hours in her haven.
She was known also for her cheeky smiles and comments and always made people laugh. She will be sadly missed and our memories of her will go on forever.
The funeral took place on the 14th July at Saint Sophia.
Με μεγάλη θλίψη αναγγέλλουμε το θάνατο της αγαπημένης μας μητέρας, γιαγιάς και προγιαγιάς Μαρούλλας Παναγιώτου η οποία απεβίωσε στις 8 Ιουλίου 2020 σε ηλικία 93 ετών. Η Mαρούλλα γεννήθηκε στις 6 Μαρτίου 1927 στην Κόμα του Γιαλού και ήταν η πιο μικρή από τα 5 της αδέλφια.
Ήρθε στο Λoνδίνο το 1948, όπου γνώρισε και παντρεύτηκε το Θεοφάνη. O Θεοφάνης ήρθε στο Λονδίνο το 1936 και γνώρισε τη Μαρούλλα μέσω του αδελφού της Μιχάλη Παπαντωνίου. Αφήνει τα παιδιά της: Ελένη, Μαριάννα, Ντίνο και Σοφία, εγγόνια: Jason, Στέφανη, Georgina, Θωμάς, Ηannah, Εisa και Νικόλας, 4 δισέγγονα: Λεονάρδο, Mαριάννα, Reem και Rashid. H Mαρούλλα ήταν ένα δυναμικό και ανεξάρτητο άτομο που της άρεσε το μαγείρεμα και ζούσε για τις οικογενειακές συναθροίσεις.
Eίχε ένα υπέροχο κήπο που αποτελείτο με φρουτόδεντρα, φυτά και λουλούδια και ήταν πολύ περήφανη για αυτό, σπαταλούσε σχεδόν όλο της το χρόνο στο δικό της παράδεισο. Είχε ένα χαμόγελο με το οποίο τις άρεσε να “πειράζει” τους γύρω της, κάνοντας σχόλια που έκαναν τους πάντες να γελούν. Θα μας λείψει πολύ αλλά θα είναι πάντα στην μνήμη μας. Η κηδεία έγινε στις 14 Ιουλίου στην Εκκλησία της Αγίας Σοφίας.
