Wife of missing Securitas robbery suspect has travelled to Cyprus to find him

THE ex-wife of missing Securitas robbery suspect Sean Lupton has travelled to the occupied part of Cyprus to find him.

The builder, who lived in Whitstable, disappeared seven years ago after being arrested in connection with a £53 million armed raid on a Securitas depot.

Lupton, then 47, an amateur Herne Bay boxing coach, walked out on his wife of 22 years, Therese, and their two children in December 2006 after police released him on bail.

He is thought to have skipped the country after driving his van to Dover and is now believed to be in the occupied part of Cyprus.

Mrs Lupton, who has since divorced him, spoke to national newspapers this week about her hopes of finding him and confronting him.

Despite several people confirming sightings of him in Lapta in the occupied part of Cyprus, she has not found him.

Legal secretary Mrs Lupton, 53, told the Sunday People: “I want to find Sean and ask him, ‘Why did you leave us like that? Why did you not even try to keep in touch with your children? How could you have done that to your own flesh and blood?’ I just want an answer – then I’ll call the police.”

Lupton was arrested in 2006 during a dawn raid at his Whitstable home.

After his release on bail and subsequent disappearance Mrs Lupton was reported to have believed her husband had been murdered. But friends then revealed they had seen him living it up in Northern Cyprus.

He was tracked to a property in Lapta but police found no trace of him.

Mrs Lupton says the heist suspect left her with debts totalling £17,000 and she was forced to sell the family home.

More than £30 million of the haul from the Securitas raid in Tonbridge in February 2006 has never been recovered.
